Since the rain gods have not let any sunlight on our BCD5 plant for the last 3-4 days, here is praying for a bright and sunny day. May the plant see a lovely sunshine today.

Before the BCD5 plant gains enough strength in its own stem, it needs a lot of strong support. Effectively behaving as a climber, it started looking for something it can clung onto. Not devoid of generosity, lady luck smiled. We got in touch with Bhavin Turakhia at Directi. He got us talking to a community evangelist at his organization. Some emails, some phone calls and a lot of discussions later - Directi was proudly standing on the podium meant for our Platinum Sponsor. From their website - ” Directi (http://www.directi.com) is a 300+ million dollars group of Businesses, that develop innovative mass-market Web Products serving millions of Customers worldwide. “

Currently employing 550 employees, Directi has got to do with a lot of technologies that you will hear or discuss at the Barcamp. But one big stem might not have proved enough for our little climber plant. It needs some more pillars in the foundation. Enter Rediff and Global Logic onto our silver podium. Rediff as a company needs no introduction. They had proved to be wonderful sponsors at the Proto event in Delhi. Global Logic on the other hand is another technology company, with its headquarters in Virginia, USA. Its Indian operations are based out Pune, Bangalore and Noida.

No mistaking the above good news, we haven’t stopped looking for more “sponsoring” pillars. There is room for more effort and money to be pumped into this event. We are already in conversation with a few prospective sponsors.

Many thanks to all the people involved from these places. They have helped us create a good solid base, from where we hope to build up a fine piece of work representing all the energy, enthusiasm and passion that exists in the entrepreneur-ially inclined sections of the society.

Arrival of the sponsoring stems has provided the much needed strength for our little plant to start climbing newer heights. Its ready to reach out and join “The League of Entrepreneurship Giants”. Amen.

Piyush had got a couple of logos for BCD5. The group debated on which one to chose. All I could infer from the emails was - its the fairer sex that held the key. Once they zeroed in on what you see above, there were few who could argue their case against the girls. There was one with the venue mentioned within the logo. But the “Aesthetic Club” (read ladies) shot that one down as too cluttered. No prizes for guessing what logo was I voting for.

Nevertheless, here is the official logo. Many thanks to Abhishek from Earlysail - for he is the artist behind this classic work. Use this logo whenever you make a post about Barcamp Delhi 5, or wherever you write about the event.

Finally, I hope you got to see the small green leaves. Right there in Barcamp. Ah…now you see them. Seeds…to sprouts…and now leaves. Visible growth for BCD5.

Oh ! That was about the BCD5 seeds. But strangely enough, here is another set of
sentences that sound anomalous in nature.

The thoughts and ideas have crystallized.
A lot of development and some marketing have converted dreams into reality.
Startups are beginning to show their mettle.

The sprouting of the lentil seeds might be a little difficult to follow. However, courtesy Barcamp Delhi 5, the startup stories will not be so tough to find out. Its happening once again in our city on Oct 10 and 11. Whether you already work for a startup or not, whether you want to work for one or not, whether you have that entrepreneurial streak or not - BCD5 is not to be missed.

If you can think or learn or just want to be a listener to some amazing stories and thoughts, you should be heading to the BCD5 venue. We are still awaiting the final confirmations from our venue host. Watch out this space for your Oct 10-11 destination. Whats the menu we are dishing out over these 2 days ? Thanks to the initial efforts from Nilesh and Piyush, we have already started thinking about BCD5. Some tentative dates and venues are being discussed. The Wiki has been already setup. Among the foremost requirements right now are volunteers.

Soon we will be expanding our horizons and send out more requirements in terms of ideas, creativity as well as execution of plans. We are not limiting ourselves and the event to be just about the “true” BarCamp. There is an intention to add some fun quotient as well. Lets see how things turn out.

Today after a whole day coordination with couple of companies/ institutes, we zeroed on to: “Amity Innovation Incubator” in Noida.

Initially we were little skeptical about the Amity’s campus, infact even after entering the campus and walking about half a km under the hot sun to locate the right building made us feel considering the other options. However, once inside the building, the thoughts turned almost 180 degrees away.

The infrastructure and the beauty of the campus simply took the minds of the organisers to the seventh heaven. Now it feels as if it’s perhaps the best facility that we could get for hosting the Barcamp.

Thanks a lot to the people who connected us with to right person in Amity and taking the responsibility on their shoulders to get it done in high spirits.

We understand that everyday many of us are hitting the Wiki link and actively waiting to see the final Venue of the event but to their disappointment it has not yet been announced. It is highly disappointing for us and for the sponsors as well. However, all we can say right now is to please keep little more patience.

What’s actually happening behind?

We already have an option to host the Barcamp on 17th. However, the place has two potential problems:

• It is in the basement of a company premise and there is no Air Conditioner. I’m sure with the summers on the head, it will become very suffocating for 100+ participants.
• The place has lot of echo, therefore, it will be difficult to isolate the sessions and hence the user experience may hamper.

Based on these factors, we have decided to keep our hunt for another Venue sponsor ON. Though we are trying our best to find a venue, it would be a great help if you can connect us to right people/ institutions who can sponsor their space for a day.

Should we go to Noida/Gurgaon?

One continuous problem for Barcamp Delhi organisers has always been to answer; where to hold the event? Noida and Gurgaon being the hubs for IT companies, it becomes relatively easy for us to find the sponsors at either regions.

However, Gurgaon participants complain that Noida becomes too far for them if we hold the event there and vice-versa. Therefore, ideally we should hold Barcamp at the center i.e. New Delhi. Now the problem is again to find the sponsors and we get back to the problem of Square One.
